Original artwork by Maarten Eivind, 2024
This work presents a figure that feels both exposed and unreadable. The face appears almost stripped down to its core — reduced, fragmented, and held together by raw marks and instinctive gestures. The red eyes dominate the image, creating a sense of intensity, alertness, and quiet disturbance.
There is no clear narrative, yet the presence is undeniable. The figure seems caught between identity and erosion, as if something has already happened — or is about to.
Painted with an aggressive and direct approach, the surface carries traces of movement, imbalance, and resistance. The stark contrast between black, white, and red reinforces a tension between control and collapse.
The work exists somewhere between pop art, outsider expression, and psychological portraiture — a raw reflection of inner states rather than external reality.
