MECHANICS GONE WRONG
Original artwork by Maarten Eivind, 2025.
This piece presents a distorted mechanical figure, balancing somewhere between human and machine. With its simplified form and direct expression, the character appears both playful and slightly unsettling — as if something familiar has been reassembled incorrectly.
Painted on cardboard, the work has a clean yet tactile surface that contrasts with the raw and expressive line work. The bold blue background enhances the figure’s presence, while the rough outlines and naïve style give it a spontaneous, almost childlike energy.
The composition explores imperfection, identity, and the fragile boundary between structure and breakdown. Like much of Hjertø’s work, it moves between pop art, street aesthetics, and a subtle psychological tension.
The artwork is presented behind glass in a black wooden frame, giving it a refined finish while preserving its raw expression.
